The date for the opinion of the Swedish Land and Environmental Court to the Swedish government on the planned spent fuel repository in Forsmark has been moved from December 20 to January 23. The reason for this decision, announced by the court on December 5, is the magnitude of the court case.
According to the Environmental Act a decision by the court has to be announced within two months after the end of the so-called final open "main meeting" of the court. The main meeting for the license application for the final repository for spent fuel at the Forsmark nuclear power plant took place in September and October. The court then set a preliminary date for the opinion within two months of the end of the main meeting. The law does allow an extension for larger court cases, which is certainly the case her, and therefore the court already on December 5 announced the new date.
