Welcome to the Swedish NGO Office for Nuclear Waste Review (MKG)

The Swedish NGO Office for Nuclear Waste Review (MKG) is an organisation established in 2004 by the Swedish environmental movement. Within the coming years an application for the construction of a Swedish geologic repository for spent nuclear fuel will be made by the nuclear industry. MKG is participating in the consultation process as a critical voice. The goal of the organisation is to assure that the method and location for the disposition of Swedish nuclear waste meets the highest long-term standards for health and environment.

The Swedish name of the organisation is Miljöorganisationernas kärnavfallsgranskning (MKG) and the largest member organisation is the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. MKG receives funding from the Board of the Swedish Nuclear Waste Fund.

16th of November 2009 - Scientific workshop on Mechanisms of Copper Corrosion in Aqueous Environments

On the 16th of November the Swedish National Council for Nuclear Waste is organising the scientific workshop: "Mechanisms of Copper Corrosion in Aqueous Environments".

The Council gives the following motivation for the workshop:

MKG publishes reports from the LOT project in the Äspö hard rock laboratory

The Swedish NGO Office for Nuclear Waste Review, MKG, believes that it is important that the results from the LOT project in the Äspö hard rock laboratory are made widely available. Results from the LOT project could be in of interest at the copper corrosion workshop organised by the Swedish National Council on Nuclear Waste on November 16th 2009.
